Fitness: It’s Good Health

Fitness is a condition of physical well being and, more importantly, the power to do certain parts of activities, jobs, sports and everyday activities without any difficulty. It is necessary for everyone to keep fit. Fitness can be achieved through regular exercise and/or healthy eating. This can include aerobic exercises, strength training, flexibility training, balance training and resistance training. These can be combined or done separately.

Flexibility is a complex trait of human anatomy that involves the ability of the joints, ligaments and muscles to adapt and move with ease when an amount of force is applied. The muscles that comprise the ligaments and muscles of the body are also called “globes”. Due to this property, flexibility is important for athletes and strong people who wish to enhance their physical endurance. FITNESS in muscle terms means how long a person can sustain his/her current physical condition without becoming injured. This ability is measured by muscular endurance or how long one can stand on one leg without dropping.

An excellent example to represent this aspect of physical fitness in a more detailed manner is swimming. While swimming requires both strength and flexibility, it takes a longer period of time to reach full stamina than it does for flexibility. One’s body composition and weight are also major factors when trying to achieve high levels of fitness. For instance, a thin person requires much more effort to keep moving than a fat person because a thin body has less muscle mass. Likewise, an athlete with low body composition but high levels of strength will have a much shorter period of time where he/she is at full stamina compared to someone with a high percentage of lean muscles but low body fat. Therefore, both muscle and fat count play an important role in achieving high level of FITNESS.

FITNESS is also a big factor when it comes to preventing physical problems such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Many people do not realize that exercising regularly can reduce the risk of these diseases by reducing their chances of being diagnosed with them in the first place. Regular exercising can help improve your blood circulation, which allows your body to remove toxic waste from the cells in a faster and easier manner. It also provides your body with antioxidants that can reduce oxidative stress. Additionally, it boosts your immune system.

FITNESS in muscle terms means how long you can physically sustain your current physical condition without becoming seriously injured. This ability is measured by muscular endurance or how long you can stand on one leg without dropping. Muscle Endurance is especially useful to athletes because they need to be able to run fast, jump high, hit a baseball or run across a field without getting winded. High levels of muscular endurance are necessary for extremely active people who perform many physically demanding activities on a daily basis. This ability is also important for people who participate in physically demanding sports such as football players, cyclists and runners.

FITNESS in brain terms means how much brain you can exert using your brain. The more brain activity, the better you are at performing concentration, memory, decision-making and problem solving. Being fit also means reducing the risks of having brain injuries or mild brain degeneration that occur with aging. To maintain good health, make sure that you engage in regular physical activity whether you are overweight or not. Exercise improves the quality of your life and it increases your lifespan.
